Tour Itinerary

Saturday – We leave Wiltshire in your luxury coach and head to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We continue to our overnight hotel in Orleans for dinner. Comfort stops on route.

Sunday – After breakfast we’ll travel on via porcelain capital Limoges, stopping off for free time in this picturesque old town with its old timber-framed houses and 15th century chapel. We continue to Rocamadour, our base for the next 3 nights. This afternoon is free to explore this beautiful medieval town with its churches and chapels cut into the cliffside before tonight’s evening meal.

Monday – This morning we’ll explore the enchanting alleyways and cobbles streets of the delightful medieval town of Sarlat la Caneda. For a unique experience take the glass lift inside the bell tower of the gothic church of Sainte Marie’s bell tower for a 360-degree panoramic view over the paved streets, honey stone cottages and terracotta rooftops. This afternoon we’ll take a river cruise on a ‘gabarre’ a reproduction of an 18th century barge, originally used to transport barrels of wine from the vineyards running along the length of the river. We’ll sail through lush green riverbanks and vineyards, past the Château de Beynac

and Castelnaud, and the ornamental hanging garden of Marqueyssac perched on the sheer cliffs high above the Dordogne river.

Tuesday – Today we will be joined by a guide for a scenic drive through the spectacular scenery of the ‘circuit of wonders’ through tiny villages namely Autoire, Cadillac, Carennac, Lacapelle-Marival, Loubressac, Conques and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, a beautiful village perched on a cliff above the river Lot and known as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”.

Wednesday – Today we say goodbye to the Dordogne and make our way to the Atlantic coast. A lunch stop on-route in the historic roman heritage town of Périgueux, with its renaissance mansions spread out under the domed and turreted bell tower of UNESCO listed gothic cathedral. We’ll arrive at the charming town of Fontenay-le-Comte, and our hotel for the next 3 nights.

Thursday – This morning we visit the seafaring city of La Rochelle, known as the white city because of its luminous limestone facades that glow in the bright coastal sunshine. A lovely opportunity to enjoy the beautiful harbour, sandy beaches and pavement cafes.

Friday – Today is a free day for you to relax and enjoy the facilities at the hotel. Explore the town of Fontenay le Comte with its fantastic architecture, the Belliard Square and arcaded houses, mansions and timber framed houses and the church of Notre Dame.

Saturday – We begin our journey home today and head to our overnight hotel near Paris via the impressive city of Chartres for lunch. Dinner on arrival.

Sunday – Leaving the outskirts of Paris we make our way to Calais and our Eurotunnel crossing. Returning to the west country early evening after a fantastic French experience.
