Our tour to the beautiful county of Shropshire rich in attractions, fabulous countryside and nostalgic market towns like Ironbridge, Shrewsbury, and Much Wenlock. Join us to experience the surrounding county of Worcestershire including a steam train, Blist hill Victorian village, RAF Cosford, an afternoon tea in Witley, and a relaxing river cruise in Shrewsbury. Staying in a 4* Spa hotel in Telford completes this scenic tour.

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Thursday – We leave Wiltshire mid-morning and head to the cathedral city of Worcester for our lunch time stop, continuing to Telford and our hotel mid-afternoon. Comfort stops on route.

 

Friday – After a relaxed breakfast we travel the short distance to Blist Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum that takes you back to the Victorian era recreating the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Shropshire town in the late 19^th century. After lunch we head to the county town of Shropshire ‘Shrewsbury’ for a relaxing river cruise on the River Severn complete with tea and biscuits, the best way to enjoy the beautiful views and the commentary telling you of the town steeped in history. Some free time in the town itself before returning back to our hotel.

 

Saturday – This morning we will enjoy an hour’s steam train journey on the Severn Valley Railway from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. This heritage standard gauge railway runs between the Shropshire and Worcestershire countryside on a vintage steam train, a nostalgic step back in time! After your train ride the coach will take us to the stunningly beautiful medieval town of ‘Much Wenlock’ with its charming museum, visitor centre and Saturday market. An opportunity to enjoy lunch before returning mid-afternoon to our spa hotel and a chance to use the extensive leisure facilities or relax on the sun terrace with views of the golf course.

 

Sunday – After a leisurely breakfast we begin our day with a visit to RAF Cosford. You’ll spend the morning discovering displays of aircraft, iconic cars, model tanks, and so much more! Marvel at the worlds oldest Spitfire and several other classic aircraft in the ‘War in the Air’ hanger. This afternoon we are taking you to Great Witley for an afternoon tea in ‘The Garden Tea rooms’ (around 1.00pm). enjoy freshly cut sandwiches, scones, jam & cream and unlimited tea & coffee all served on traditional bone china. After lunch we visit the nearby ‘Great Witley Parish church’ with the most stunning interior of any Baroque church in England. This hidden gem delights all that visit with displays about the history of this wonderful building.

 

Monday – A relaxed leave from our hotel to visit the nearby village of Ironbridge on the banks of the River Severn in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge. Famous for the worlds first iron bridge that gave the village its name which was constructed in 1779 in the gorge known throughout the world as the birthplace of the industrial revolution. The bridge itself, and iconic landmark and now a UNESCO heritage site. After your visit we continue down to Wiltshire and your waiting taxis after a memorable break in Shropshire.
