Tour Itinerary

Monday – We depart Wiltshire and head for the beautiful county of Yorkshire and our hotel in the City of York for the next 6 nights. Comfort stops on route.

Tuesday – This morning we are taking you to the popular sea-side town of Scarborough. Enjoy the north and south bay beaches, hop on the miniature heritage railway or the Victorian funicular which links the town centre to the harbour, browse the many shops and eateries for lunch. Back to the hotel for a free afternoon in York.

Wednesday – Today is a free day for you to visit the many attractions that York has to offer from ‘The Shambles’, one of the best-preserved medieval streets in the world to the Jorvik experience depicting Viking life with the sights, sounds and smells of the Viking age. York Minster and the Undercroft museum in the chambers below the cathedral and also ‘The National Railway museum’ where you can climb onboard historic carriages and see the famous Mallard, the world’s fastest steam locomotive. The choices are endless, explore these and more at leisure.

Thursday – After a relaxing breakfast we leave mid-morning to the seaside town of Whitby with its Gothic Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’. This resort is also popular due to its delightful harbour, surrounded by pretty houses, alongside a sandy beach with plenty of restaurants selling the famous ‘Whitby fish & chips!’  Back to the hotel late afternoon to relax before dinner.

Friday – Today we visit Pickering and today is ‘Market Day’! An opportunity to pick up a bargain. We will then board the North Yorkshire Moors railway for a nostalgic steam train up through the North York Moors National Park. After the 55-minute experience we arrive at the village of Goathland famous in the popular ‘Heartbeat’ TV series. Before some free time to explore this popular location, we are including a cream tea in the ‘Goathland Tea rooms’, a delicious treat before returning to our hotel.

Saturday – Our first visit of the day is to the smallest and oldest city in Yorkshire, ‘Ripon’ a cathedral city with incredible landscapes and historical sites. An opportunity to visit the stunning cathedral which is free of charge. We continue our day to Harrogate, a beautiful affluent town with its Royal Pump Room museum documenting the importance of local mineral springs. Harrogate is also famous for its ‘Betty’s Tea rooms’, you may wish to treat yourselves to this indulgent experience or browse the many boutique shops, the whole afternoon is yours to choose.

Sunday – After a full English breakfast we depart our hotel and head back to Wiltshire after a memorable holiday in the County of Yorkshire.
