Steam into the festive season through Lancashire’s very own winter wonderland. Wind past Christmas card villages and fairy festooned stations whilst tucking into a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings! Sit back and relax in a pullman-style dinning carriage to enjoy this distinctive experience. We are also including Tatton Park and Samlesbury Hall, festively dressed for Christmas!

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Monday – We depart Wiltshire this morning and travel towards Lancashire and our base for this tour. Welcome tea and coffee on arrival at the hotel while your cases are taken to your rooms. Comfort stops on route.

 

Tuesday – After a leisurely breakfast we are taking you to Tatton park mansion and grounds which will be beautifully dressed for the festive season. Each year the mansion celebrates with a different theme as you explore its state rooms. You will have plenty of time to explore before we return to our hotel mid-afternoon to relax and maybe enjoy the hotel’s heated indoor pool.

 

Wednesday – Today we are starting the day with a visit to the famous ‘Bury market’. An opportunity to pick up a bargain and do your Christmas shopping! We continue our day with the highlight of the week and our festive Christmas lunch on the East Lancashire railway. We will enjoy a glass of fizz as we settle in the Pullman-style carriages all set for our 3 course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, finishing off with tea, coffee, and mince pies. This 2.3/4hr journey will certainly be a dining experience with distinction!

 

Thursday – After a relaxing full English breakfast we will be visiting the ever-popular Oswaldtwistle mills shopping and garden centre. This award winning former weaving mill has over 100 retailers all under one roof including cafes and restaurants. We continue our day with a visit to medieval Samlesbury Hall, built in 1325 as a family home, you will enjoy the traditional decorated Christmas tree in the great hall and if you wish some festive treats in their heritage cafe.

 

Friday – Time to leave and begin our journey home. We will have a lunchtime stop in Webbs garden centre, before continuing to Wiltshire and your taxis after this lovely festive break.
