If you’ve dreamt about the ultimate winter wonderland over the festive season, join us at this special time of the year in the beautiful country of Austria. We are repeating our previous ‘Christmas in Austria’ tour for those who wish to experience the same tour but without the restrictions of ‘Christmas away from family and friends’! A perfect solution to experience the snow-capped mountains and the magical sound of sleigh bells at the beginning of December.

 

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Wednesday – Our Luxury coach departs this morning, and we head to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. Continuing to Germany for our overnight stop and evening meal. Comfort stops on route.

 

Thursday – We depart after breakfast and travel to Austria arriving in plenty of time to settle in before dinner. Welcome drink on arrival with comfort stops on route.

 

Friday – A free morning for you to explore the area or relax before a full hot lunch today in our hotel. Later this afternoon we head to Innsbruck ‘The City of the Alps’ where you will be able to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the Christmas markets. An opportunity to enjoy a light snack from all the delicious options the market has to offer before rejoining the coach for a hot drink and festive treats! We then take you to experience an authentic Tyrolean evening show with different instruments, Tyrolean dances, ‘shoe slapping’ and yodelling, a really fun evening for us all.

 

Saturday – Today we are taking you to the beautiful City of Salzburg. This festively decked-out city is even more radiant than usual in December, with the smell of hot chestnuts, mulled wine and delicious cookies wafting through the lanes of this historical district. A selection of 4 Christmas markets offers traditional arts and crafts amongst 100 market stalls, so a stroll through Salzburg during advent season is a truly memorable festive experience.

 

Sunday – After a relaxed breakfast this morning we experience the magic of a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the glorious alpine scenery in nearby Pertisau. After this wonderful experience you will enjoy a steaming bowl of Austrian soup and bread before we return to our hotel mid-afternoon for coffee and cake.

 

Monday – This morning we visit the small city of Rattenberg for a demonstration of traditional Austrian apple strudel making. We are including a hot drink and a slice of this delicious Austrian treat before we continue to a glass blowing demonstration and an opportunity to see all the beautiful glass pieces that the city is known for and to purchase if you wish. We continue our day in the pretty town of Pertisau to ride the Karwendel Bergbahn cable car for amazing winter wonderland views and an opportunity for lunch in the restaurant at the top of the mountain. After this panoramic experience we return to our hotel for time to relax before dinner.

 

Tuesday – This morning we walk you to the nearby 14^th century farmhouse (2 minutes from hotel) giving you an insight of how people used to live, work and hunt years ago. At this time of the year during this festive period, you will be able to enjoy a rendition of the Christmas story in this old barn amongst the livestock. Explore the museum artifacts afterwards and then the rest of the day is yours free to explore Achenkirch. This evening after dinner we invite you to a torch lit walk around the village followed by some mulled wine at the hotel.

 

Wednesday – Sadly we say goodbye to Austria and make our way back to Germany to our overnight hotel with suitable stops on the way.

Thursday – We leave Germany and make our way back up to Calais and our Eurotunnel crossing, once back in the UK we head to Wiltshire and our waiting taxis early evening.
