Staying in the centre of the charming Bavarian village of Hohenau, join us for a magical journey through Bavaria’s enchanted forests to experience such delights as a horse drawn carriage ride, Joska Crystal with glass blowing, a visit to a charming Alpaca farm and a fabulous Treetop walk through the beautiful Bavarian forests for unique views of this stunning location. We’ll also cross the border into Czechia to visit the beautiful town of "Cesky Krumlov" nestled in a horseshoe bend of the River Vltava. This tour takes us to less travelled regions in Bavaria, and real hidden gems for you to explore and enjoy.

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Tuesday – Our Luxury coach departs this morning and travels down to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We continue through France into Germany for our overnight stop, dinner on arrival. Comfort stops on route.

 

Wednesday – After Breakfast, we continue our journey through Germany to our main hotel in the charming village of Hohenau. Plenty of time to settle in before tonight’s evening meal.

 

Thursday – We begin our day with a visit to ‘Joska Kristall’ in Bodenmais. This family run company combines craftsmanship, design and experience, from handmade crystal objects to modern glass designs of the highest quality since 1960. We’ll enjoy glass blowing demonstrations and you may even have the opportunity to try glass blowing yourselves! Joska is well known throughout the world as a leading manufacturer of crystal trophies for sporting events such as the Fis Ski World Cup and the Four Hills tournament. With a diverse range of home accessories, tableware, garden, jewellery and gift ideas, there will obviously be an opportunity to make a purchase from the array of merchandise if you wish. The complex is complimented by a lovely restaurant, café and beer garden for lunch before we continue our day to Schaufling, for an afternoon encounter with Alpaca’s at the Alpaca farm. Ever stroked an Alpaca? Today’s your chance, their soft coats and big round eyes, like a miniature camel, create an unforgettable experience for young and old. We are including coffee and cake after meeting these beautiful creatures to enhance your afternoon.

 

Friday – A free day to relax in this traditional village which offers a peaceful day amongst the surrounding countryside. You may also wish to use the hotels lovely indoor swimming pool and sauna.

 

Saturday – A full day excursion today to the beautiful town of Cesky Krumlov, across the Bavarian border and into Czechia. The picturesque old town is a designated UNESCO world heritage site nestled in a horseshow bend of the River Vltava. With pavement cafes, a colourful town square, museums and its dominating 13^th century castle to visit if you wish, there is plenty to discover with panoramic views from its round belltower, a beautiful part of south Bohemia. We spend the day in this stunning location with its medieval architecture and fairytale charm.

 

Sunday – After a leisurely breakfast we travel the short distance by coach to Neuschonau and the Bavarian National Park. We’ll enjoy a relaxed walking tour at your own pace of the forest along an accessible walkway which offers an elevated view of the area. There is also a 44-metre-high observation tower for a magnificent panorama of the beautiful Bavarian & Bohemian Forest. This tower is accessible for all with a gentle 6% gradient and a lift for wheelchairs and strollers. The Bavarian Forest National Park and its Czech sister National Park Sumava, together form a triangle of the largest continuous forest area in Central Europe and is affectionately known as the ‘green roof’ of the continent, a protected area for around 40 different native mammals and bird species. After this fantastic experience and the best views in Bavaria, we return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

 

Monday – This morning we take you to nearby Rohrbach to enjoy a 45-minute horse drawn carriage ride through the Bavarian Forests. After this, we will enjoy a bowl of traditional Bavarian Goulash soup, along with live music from the family Michlbauer! This afternoon before we begin our journey home tomorrow is for you to relax as you wish.

Tuesday – We leave our main hotel and travel back today, arriving at our overnight hotel late afternoon to relax before dinner.

 

Wednesday – Leaving Germany and making our way to Calais and our Eurotunnel crossing back to the UK, we head back to Wiltshire and our waiting taxis to take you home after a wonderful Bavarian holiday.
