Join us on this fabulous 10-day tour to the beautiful country of Austria with its spectacular scenery. Flower filled meadows, crystal clear lakes and a whole variety of great excursions to allow you to experience this wonderful location along with enjoying some traditional Austrian treats!

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Monday – Our luxury coach will depart this morning and head to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We continue onto Germany for our overnight stay and evening meal. Comfort stops on route.

 

Tuesday – We leave Germany after a good breakfast and continue our journey to the Austrian Tyrol. Enjoy the changing landscapes as we arrive in Achenkirch and our hotel for the next 7 nights. After dinner we board a local bus into town to enjoy an authentic live Tyrolean show!

 

Wednesday – Your first free day to explore or relax. We have included coffee and cake in the hotel this afternoon.

 

Thursday – This morning we will enjoy a heritage steam train ride into the beautiful town of Mayrhofen. Free time for lunch and a browse around the shops before we continue our day with a brewery visit. Discover the treasures that make the famous Zillertal Bier so unique, made from the fresh mountain water, the finest hops and the best grain from Austrian fields, even their own Zillertal beer yeast that they have perfected for over 500 years! This beer is only sold in the Tyrol, made by 16 generations of the same family, you’ll enjoy a state-of-the-art self-guided tour in English from an exciting multimedia presentation to see the brewing process up to the bottle filling and not forgetting the all-important tasting. Enjoy our ‘3 beer’ speciality package at the end of the tour (we have an alcohol-free apple juice spritzer for those that would prefer).

 

Friday – This morning we visit the small city of Rattenberg for a demonstration of traditional Austrian apple strudel making. We are including a slice of this delicious treat with a hot drink before some free time to browse the local glass shops for which the city is famous for. This afternoon we return to the hotel via the pretty town of Pertisau to ride the Karwendel-Bergbahn mountain cable car up to the Zwoelferkopf mountain in Tyrol. From here you will enjoy stunning views from the large terrace and enjoy refreshments while watching the paragliders that are drawn to the area thanks to the excellent thermals. We return to the hotel to relax before dinner.

 

Saturday – Today we visit the Tyrolean capital city of Innsbruck. Surrounded by the jagged rock spires of the Nordkette mountain range. We will enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride through the streets of the old town to discover some of the most important sights including the ornate 15^th century golden roof designed as a royal box for the Emperor and the Triumphal arch. Free time in the city for lunch and shopping before we return to our hotel late afternoon.

Sunday – Today we cross the border to take you on a cruise on Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps. Enjoy the scenery from this hour-long cruise around the lake followed by lunch at leisure in one of the many restaurants and café’s that line the lovely promenade. Back to the hotel mid-afternoon to relax or take a stroll around Lake Achensee, a stone’s throw from our hotel.

 

Monday – Your second free day to enjoy our location. Why not purchase a Lake Achensee full day hop on/off cruise ticket from the pier just 450 metres from our hotel!

Tuesday – Sadly it time to leave Austria and head back to Germany and our overnight hotel.

 

Wednesday – We leave Germany head to Calais and our crossing back to the UK after a fabulous Austrian holiday.
