Based in the Cumbrian town of Kendal, be inspired by the Lake Districts famous breathtaking scenery and enjoy a nostalgic steam train, Windermere cruise and the ever-popular Settle to Carlisle railway, considered one of the most scenic rail journeys in England. There are more treats for you on this lovely summer break amongst natural beauty.

Tour Itinerary

Monday – We depart Wiltshire and head north up to Kendal in Cumbria for our 4-night stay. Comfort stops on route.

Tuesday – This morning we travel to Haverthwaite station for a steam train ride up to Lakeside on Windermere where we will meet our boat for a cruise to Bowness-on-Windermere. Free time in this charming town for lunch and an opportunity to visit local craft shops or even "The World of Beatrix Potter". We return to lakeside back on our boat for more views of the beautiful scenery and magnificent views on England’s largest lake we return to our coach by steam train after our cruise. Back to the hotel late afternoon to relax before dinner.

Wednesday – This morning we are taking you to the Lakeland motor museum to see a fascinating collection of over 30,000 exhibits that trace the development of road transport throughout the 20^th century, from cars, motorbikes, cycles, automobilia and even a tribute to Donald Campbell with a full-size replica of the 1935 Bluebird car, K4boat and 1967 jet hydroplane Bluebird K7. A great morning of nostalgia before we return to Kendal for a free afternoon for you all to enjoy the town or relax.

Thursday – Today we are taking you on a classic rail journey (not steam) on the Settle to Carlisle railway which is considered the most scenic rail journey in England as it winds through moorland scenery and over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. Once arrived in the city of Carlisle located in Northern Cumbria, you’ll have a couple of hours to explore, have lunch and visit the vibrant shops and museums if you wish before the coach returns us to Kendal in time to relax before dinner.

Friday – Time to leave Cumbria and head home to Wiltshire and your waiting taxis after a lovely summer break in one of England’s most stunning counties.
