Tour Itinerary
Wednesday After a leisurely breakfast we continue our journey to our hotel in Alsace via a lunchtime stop at the beautiful city of Metz with its gardens and leafy promenades along the Moselle and Siene rivers, an opportunity to visit the Gothic cathedral famed for its massive stained-glass windows. We continue to our hotel in Mutzig, our base for the next 6 nights mid-afternoon with time to explore the local area and settle in before dinner.
Thursday A free day for you today after two days of travel to explore the local town in this beautiful part of the Alsace region of France.
Friday We spend this day in the picturesque and historic port city of Strasbourg, the capital of the region and centre of the European Parliament. Set in the beautiful setting on the River Rhine we will enjoy a circular river cruise from downtown to the European Parliament through to the imperial district of Neustadt. Free time for lunch and the afternoon to explore at leisure. With German and French influences, visit La Petite France & the Gothic cathedral Notre-Dame with its famous astronomical clock.
Saturday Today we will enjoy the Alsace wine route and the wonderful vineyards and mountain scenery of the Alsace region with its pretty towns. Our first stop is in the village of Gertwiller for a browse in a traditional gingerbread shop with an opportunity to purchase some of these delicious, sweet treats. We continue to one of the regions oldest and most picturesque medieval towns Ribeauville for free time to enjoy lunch before we visit a local vineyard to try the delicious Alsace wines and a guided cellar tour.
Sunday This morning we travel to the beautiful town of Colmar where well enjoy a guided tourist train journey, taking you all around this pretty half-timbered houses and canals before some leisure time and an opportunity for lunch. This afternoon our coach will drive us to the spectacular Vosges mountains and the peak of Mont Sainte Odile for incredible views of the Plain of Alsace and a walk around the historical site of Hohenburg Abbey. We return back to our hotel via a scenic journey back to our hotel.
Monday Your second free day to enjoy the local village or relax on the hotel terrace or enjoy the small outdoor pool and sun loungers.
Tuesday A relaxed breakfast before we leave Mutzig and begin our journey back up to Reims for an overnight stop. We will arrive in Reims mid-afternoon giving you the opportunity to explore this gorgeous city with its fairytale Gothic buildings, heritage, culture and of course its champagne. A couple of hours to explore before we book into our hotel for a relaxing dinner.
Wednesday This morning we head up to Calais via the historical city of Arras for lunch before our crossing over to the UK. Once back in Britian we continue to Wiltshire and your waiting taxis after a memorable holiday in France.
