Join us in the picturesque town of Weymouth on the beautiful Jurassic coast with visits to the historic Tudor manor Athelhampton House and gardens, a return ride on the Swanage steam railway with free time in Swanage, and a cruise around the beautiful Poole harbour. With entertainment each evening and a whole free day in Weymouth, makes a relaxing break by the seaside this summer.

Tour Itinerary

Monday – We begin our tour leaving Wiltshire and travelling the short distance down to Poole harbour where we will enjoy a 70-minute harbour cruise on one of the worlds largest natural harbours. We’ll sail past Brownsea Island, home to rare red squirrels and the historic Brownsea Castle, past millionaires row at Sandbanks, home to the rich and famous and plenty of wildlife including seals if we are lucky! After our cruise there will be time for lunch in Poole before we continue to our hotel in Weymouth, our base for the next 4 nights. Time to settle in before tonight’s evening meal and live entertainment.

Tuesday – This morning we visit Athelhampton House and gardens. This Tudor manor has over 20 rooms open to the public for you to explore and is surrounded by award-winning gardens including four walled gardens each with their own unique planting style, also a productive kitchen garden and glass house. This afternoon we visit Abbotsbury Swannery, the worlds only managed colony of nesting mute swans which was established by Benedictine monks in 1040. Back to the hotel mid-afternoon with time to relax before this evening’s meal and entertainment.

Wednesday – A free day for you to relax and enjoy one of UK’s most beautiful seaside resorts with its fine Georgian seafront, esplanade and impressive golden sands. You may wish to visit the sea life centre or simply take a stroll around the old harbour area and a visit to Brewers Quay which is full of arts, crafts and antique shops, the choice is yours.

Thursday – Today we will enjoy a return journey on the Swanage steam railway. Beginning at Norden the 25-minute journey will take us past the beautiful ruins of Corfe Castle before arriving at the seaside town of Swanage with its lovely beach, historic pier and Victorian charm. Enjoy some lunch along the charming promenade before our return steam ride back to Norden.

Friday – We leave Weymouth this morning after a leisurely breakfast and begin our journey back to Wiltshire via the quirky seaside town of Bridport. This lively market town surrounded by breathtaking coastal and countryside views, is a perfect charming location for a lunch time stop before returning home after a memorable holiday on the Jurassic coast.
