Discover the best of the Austrian Tyrol with its imposing mountains, flower filled meadows, stunning glaciers, and crystal-clear lakes on this 9-day tour staying in the charming resort of Seefeld.

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Tuesday – Our luxury coach will depart this morning and head to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We continue onto Germany for our overnight stay and evening meal. Comfort stops on route.

 

Wednesday – We leave Germany after a good breakfast and continue our journey to the Austrian Tyrol. Enjoy the changing landscapes as we arrive in Seefeld and our hotel for the next 6 nights. Time to settle in before this evening’s meal.

 

Thursday – A coach free day, today and we begin with a carriage ride. The horses will come to our hotel, and we’ll climb aboard the carriages for a scenic ride around the lake and town of Seefeld. The rest of the day is free to explore the town or relax in the hotel gardens and indoor swimming pool.

 

Friday – Today we travel round 29 bends and up to 2,750 metres above sea level to the Tyrol’s highest glacier, The Kaunertal. Once at the top you will have the opportunity to walk on the Glacier itself and even explore the crevasses where you can walk through and admire and even touch the glacier ice that is at least 100 years old! There is also a cable car for spectacular views taking you to an observation platform to see the three different countries at 3108 meters high, Austria, Italy & Switzerland.

 

Saturday – Today we have another coach free day as we are taking you to the capital city of Innsbruck by local train. This beautiful Tyrolean city is surrounded by the jagged rock spires of the Nordkette mountain range. We’ll discover the old town including the ornate 15^th century ‘Golden Roof’ designed as a royal box for the emperor, the column of Saint Anne and the Triumphal Arch. With a fabulous selection of shops and restaurants including the not to miss ‘Swarovski Crystal’ shop with its impressive exhibits and stunning show pieces for you to admire! Free time to explore at leisure before your escorted train journey back to Seefeld.

 

Sunday – This morning we visit the small city of Rattenberg for a demonstration of traditional Austrian apple strudel making. We are including a slice of this delicious treat with a hot drink before some free time to browse the local glass shops for which the city is famous for. This afternoon we return to the hotel via the pretty town of Pertisau to ride the Karwendel-Bergbahn mountain cable car up to the Zwolferkopf mountain in Tyrol. From here you will enjoy stunning views from the large terrace and enjoy a refreshment while watching the paragliders that are drawn to the area thanks to the excellent thermals. We return to the hotel to relax before dinner.

 

Monday – Your second free day to relax and enjoy Seefeld and the hotel facilities.

 

Tuesday – Sadly we say goodbye to Austria and make our way back to our overnight hotel with suitable stops on the way.

 

Wednesday – We leave our Hotel and make our way back to Calais and our Eurotunnel crossing, once back in the UK we head to Wiltshire and our waiting taxis early evening after a memorable holiday.
