Join us for our first tour of the season to the beautiful County of Kent. Based in a 4* Spa hotel conveniently situated to enjoy a variety of interesting excursions throughout the week from historical Chatham Dockyard to the childhood home of Anne Boleyns ‘Hever Castle’.

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Monday – We leave Wiltshire and continue towards Kent via Guildford and its cathedral. Welcome tea and coffee at our hotel while your cases are taken to your rooms. Time to settle in before dinner.

 

Tuesday – Our day begins with a visit to the enchanting childhood home of Anne Boleyn, ‘Hever Castle’. Built in the 13^th century, the Boleyn family inherited the castle in 1505 and lived there with his wife Lady Elizabeth and their three children George, May and Anne, the future wife of Henry VIII. Free time to explore the castle and grounds before we continue to the historical town of Rochester with its beautiful architecture and cathedral that dates back to 604 and is the 2^nd oldest in England. An afternoon here at leisure and an opportunity for lunch.

 

Wednesday – Today we are heading for the historic dockyard in Chatham. We step into the heart of Chatham’s legendary ship building heritage and return to the ‘Age of Sail’ when the dockyard built mighty ships that won command of the world’s oceans. Experience interactive galleries and gain first-hand experience of life as a Victorian ropemaker! An 80-acre site with 400 years of heritage and we are including the fabulous ‘rope making demonstration!’

 

Thursday – Today we visit the ancient city of Canterbury. Dominated by its stunning cathedral, this medieval city was a pilgrimage in the middle ages. Ancient walls originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber framed houses. The whole morning here and time for lunch before we continue our day with the afternoon at the Battle of Britain memorial, a monument to aircrew who flew in the Battle of Britain. Sited on the white cliffs near Folkestone, we are including ‘The Scramble Experience’ an exciting hands-on attraction that uses audio visual effects, a video wall and other special techniques to show something of what the few experienced in the summer and early autumn of 1940. Plenty to see and do in this fascinating exhibition before you join the coach for complimentary tea/coffee and a generous slice of one of Kim’s homemade cakes Lemon Drizzle, Coffee, Carrot cake & Victoria Sandwich the choice is yours!

 

Friday – Time to leave our hotel after a full English breakfast and begin our journey back to Wiltshire, stopping for lunch in the beautiful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. This beautiful Spa town is well-known for its world-famous gardens and castle and the famous walkway ‘The Pantiles’ with its 18^th & 19^th Century buildings and home to a variety of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and open-air cafes, perfect for a spot of lunch! We continue our journey mid-afternoon back to Wiltshire and your waiting taxis to take you all safely home after a lovely Spring break in Kent.
